Amstel Gold Race en Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition zonder publiek verreden
Valkenburg, 19 augustus 2020 – De organisatie van de Amstel Gold Race heeft besloten de Toerversie van de Amstel Gold Race, waar jaarlijks 15.000 wielerliefhebbers aan deelnemen, te verplaatsen naar 17 april 2021. De profversies van de Amstel Gold Race en Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition worden wel verreden op zaterdag 10 oktober 2020 zonder publiek en het gebruikelijke finishdorp. De organisatie roept op om de wedstrijd vanuit huis te kijken en niet naar Limburg af te reizen.

Iets minder dan twee maanden voor de Toerversie Amstel Gold Race moeten we concluderen dat een wielertoertocht waarbij 15.000 deelnemers aan de start verschijnen niet realistisch is. Een bijkomende reden om de toerversie te verplaatsen naar 2021 is dat we ons volledig willen focussen op het veilig laten plaatsvinden van de Amstel Gold Race en Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition op zaterdag 10 oktober 2020. Dit wordt een editie zonder publiek. Normaal gesproken blijven veel deelnemers van de Toerversie in Zuid-Limburg om ook de profversie mee te maken. Dat zal dit jaar dus niet het geval zijn. Samen met overheidsinstanties werken we aan maatregelen om de start- en finishlocatie en de beklimmingen publieksvrij te houden. Ook zijn we in overleg met NOS om de Amstel Gold Race langer en nog mooier in beeld te brengen, zodat de thuisblijvende wielerliefhebber niets hoeft te missen van de race
We voeren deze periode veel gesprekken met overheden en veiligheidsinstanties, dit verloopt positief. De wil om de Amstel Gold Race te laten verrijden is bij alle partijen aanwezig. We blijven alle ontwikkelingen goed volgen en leren van de internationale wielerwedstrijden die op dit moment verreden worden in Europa
Toerversie voor 15.000 wielerliefhebbers
De ingeschreven deelnemers voor de Toerversie Amstel Gold Race krijgen een bericht van de organisatie. Deelnemers hebben de keuze om het deelnamebewijs door te schuiven naar 2021 of het inschrijfgeld retour te krijgen. De Toerversie van de Amstel Gold Race 2021 staat gepland op zaterdag 17 april.
Uitzending NOS
De Amstel Gold Race wordt dit jaar extra lang live uitgezonden. Zaterdag 10 oktober 2020 zal al vanaf 12.10 uur zowel de dames- als de herenkoers te volgen zijn bij de NOS op NPO1.

Tourversion Amstel Gold Race 2020 rescheduled to 2021
No spectators at Amstel Gold Race and Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition
VALKENBURG, 19 August 2020 – The organisation of the Amstel Gold Race has decided to reschedule the Tourversion Amstel Gold Race, in which 15.000 participants start every year, to 17 April 2021. The elite edition of the Amstel Gold Race and the Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition will be held on Saturday 10 October 2020 without spectators and the usual finish area. The organization asks everyone to watch the race from home and not to travel to Limburg.
A little less than two months before the Tourversion of the Amstel Gold Race we have to conclude that a cycling tour with 15.000 participants is not feasible. An additional reason to move the Tourversion to 2021 is that we want to fully focus on a safely organised Amstel Gold Race and Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition on Saturday 10 October 2020. This will be an edition without spectators. Normally many participants of the Tourversion are staying in Zuid-Limburg for the entire weekend to watch the elite races as well. By postponing the tourversion, this will not be the case this year. Together with local governments we are working on measurements to keep the start- and finish location and the climbs free of spectators. We are working together with the NOS (the Dutch television broadcasting organisation) to extend the live coverage of the Amstel Gold Race on television, so people can enjoy the full race at home.
We are working closely with local governments and safety authorities. All parties are committed to continue organising the Amstel Gold Race. We closely follow all developments and learn from the international cycling races that are currently taking place in Europe.
Tourversion for 15.000 cycling enthousiasts
The registered participants of the Amstel Gold Race Tourversion will receive a message from the organization.. Participants will be given the possibility to transfer their ticket to 2021 or get a refund of the entry fee. The Tourversion 2021 is scheduled on Saturday 17 April.

The NOS will broadcast a extra-long live coverage of The Amstel Gold Race and The Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition on Saturday 10 October 2020 starting 12:10.

Accreditatie aanvragen / Accreditation
Vanwege COVID-19 en de daarbij geldende adviezen en richtlijnen van onder andere overheid en UCI zullen we minder media kunnen toelaten tot de Amstel Gold Race 2020. Op dit moment worden de procedures uitgewerkt. Zodra de mogelijkheid tot accrediteren geopend is, zullen wij hierover berichten.
Due to COVID-19 government and UCI policies and guidelines there is a limited number of media accreditations available for the Amstel Gold Race 2020. At this moment we are finalizing all the procedures regarding media. We will inform you as soon as the accreditation process is opened.
