Deelnemende teams Amstel Gold Race 2022 bekend

De wildcards voor de Amstel Gold Race, die op zondag 10 april 2022 wordt verreden, zijn bekend. Bij de heren starten naast de automatisch startgerechtigde UCI WorldTeams ook Alpecin-Fenix, B&B Hotels P/B KTM, Bardiani CSF Faizane, Bingoal Pauwels Sauces WB, Sport Vlaanderen – Baloise, Team Arkea – Samsic en TotalEnergies in Nederlands enige wielerklassieker. Bij de vrouwen is er naast de 14 UCI Women’s WorldTeams ook plaats voor 10 UCI Women’s Continental Teams. 

De organisatie van de Amstel Gold Race heeft er met de aangekondigde versoepelingen vertrouwen in dat deze editie weer over het gebruikelijke parcours door Zuid-Limburg gereden kan worden. Met de start in het centrum van Maastricht, een uitdagend parcours door het Zuid-Limburgse heuvelland en publiek. De finish zal weer op de gebruikelijke locatie zijn, twee kilometer na de laatste klim van de Cauberg op de Rijksweg tussen Vilt en Berg en Terblijt. In het zelfde weekend vindt op zaterdag 9 april ook de Toerversie Amstel Gold Race plaats waar 15.000 wielerliefhebbers aan deelnemen.

Als winnende ploeg staat Jumbo Visma aan de start en spelden zij de laagste startnummers op. In 2021 won Wout van Aert in een millimetersprint voor het eerst in zijn carrière de Amstel Gold Race. Ook voor Marianne Vos was het haar eerste overwinning in de Nederlandse klassieker, na een spannende strijd kwam zij als eerste over de meet. De Amstel Gold Race maakt ook dit jaar weer deel uit van de UCI WorldTour-cyclus.

The organisation of the Amstel Gold Race has announced the 7 wildcards for the Amstel Gold Race 2022. The 56th Amstel Gold Race on Sunday 10 April will feature the following UCI ProTeams: Alpecin- Felix, B&B Hotels P/B KTM, Bardiani CSF Faizana, Bingoal Pauwels Sauces WB, Sport Vlaanderen – Baloise, Team Arkea – Samsic and TotalEnergies, alongside the 18 WorldTeams whom are obligatory invited.

As the winning team of 2021, Jumbo Visma will be assigned the first starting numbers. The Dutch spring classic is once again part of the UCI WorldTour. The 18 WorldTeams of the UCI WorldTour are automatically entitled to participate in the Amstel Gold Race. The participating teams in the Amstel Gold Race Ladies Edition have also been announced. Next to the 14 UCI Women's WorldTeams, 10 UCI Women's Continental Teams have been invited.
